The Delaware Republican Party Aims For Fiscal Cutbacks
Spending funds in Delaware was like running water for a moment. When the Delaware Republican Party saw that money was not staying in the legislature, they asked the governor to create a plan to start saving money and cut back on spending. The Party made a suggestion to cut back by at least 5%; their ultimate goal is to save at least 10%, however 5% is a good start.
The reason for this request was because the Party has realized that a lot of working people do not have as much income coming into the household. Many residents in the state have had to cut back and stick to a tight budget. They have also had to change their spending habits. These people don’t have as much disposable income as they once did because of the economy.
The Delaware Republican Party is not too happy that the money has being spent as though there’s no tomorrow. They claim that the state government is looking to set up increases in taxes and fees to replenish the lack of state revenue funds. The Party is pushing to have a cost-savings measure prior to the government wanting to implement increase. The Party knows that this would be a burden on all taxpayers, no matter what party they’re affiliated with.
The Senate Republican Caucus drafted a letter to the governor stating that a cost-savings plan be implemented. This plan would help with the lack of revenue that the state needs. They noted the various projects that need money in order to start. However, with the projected shortfall, the state of Delaware could be in big trouble if they don’t cease to cut back unnecessary spending.
The last thing the Delaware Republican Party wants is for the government to implement a tax and fee increase on the residents of Delaware. The state budget has not been balanced for several years, and now it seems like it’s coming to a head. Something has to be done very quickly. Otherwise, the state of Delaware won’t have any money to do anything.
The Delaware Republican Party requested that the state get with the fiscal program immediately. They consider this a start to making inroads prior to implementing the increases that the administration wants.
The Delaware Republican Party wants to sit down with the state government and make an effort to cut back on any excessive spending. They want to go through the budget with them and make sure that cost-cutting measures have been implemented.
The Party said when the bill for the state budget was brought forth; they were not in favor of it. However, it went through anyway and the spending began. Now that the money is leaving at record speed, the Party is ready to put a halt to additional spending.
It is imperative to the Delaware Republican Party that this issue gets resolved very quickly. They reminded the administration that there are many people in the state of Delaware that can hardly make ends meet at the moment.
The best thing to do would be to explore all of the available options and take it from there. Once the critical issues have been identified, only then can the state of Delaware move forward.
